Video surveillance in public spaces
For the ninth time, interested representatives of Swiss and foreign police forces and industry gathered at the Swiss Police Informatics Congress (SPIK). This national platform set a new visitor record in 2016 with more than 700 participants and offered Eraneos and other IT service providers the opportunity to exchange experiences on implemented and planned projects. Representatives of the security organisations informed themselves about the latest market trends, industry and business representatives about the needs and requirements of the users.
In addition to technical topics, the focus this time was on transaction processing, investigation support, video & communication and, in particular, national cooperation and worldwide police work.
Video surveillance in particular is of interest to the police, as the Zug police and Eraneos explained in a presentation. The legal basis of video surveillance in public and publicly accessible areas harbours certain pitfalls and challenges: Who is allowed to view which pictures? How can mobile and fixed locations be accessed? What flexibility and functionality does a video management system need?
Eraneos supports the Zug police in project management and with expert advice for the project team in the phases of concept, realisation and implementation.
