Digitization and industry 4.0 End of the hype cycle?
Much time has passed since the term Industry 4.0 was brought to the public's attention at the Hanover Messe in 2011. The constant sprinkling of topics such as augmented reality (AR), data analysis, industrial Internet of Things (IoT) or predictive maintenance shows the first signs of fatigue among managers. Even though the initial euphoria is subsiding, numerous facts indicate that digitization will continue to influence industrial companies for a long time to come.


It is therefore all the more astonishing that in a recent survey almost half of all Swiss industrial companies still stated that they lacked a clear strategy for Industry 4.0. We therefore want to show what a digital strategy is, why industrial companies should develop one in the first place and what the development of a digital strategy can look like in practice.
