10 years sedex

The sedex platform was set up as part of the modernisation of the census in order to enable the municipalities to supply the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) with statistics electronically and without media discontinuity. What began ten years ago with the first sedex report has developed into a true success story. In the meantime, around 5000 organisational units in over 60 specialist domains use the sedex infrastructure. To mark its 10th anniversary, the FSO has invited the public to a celebration.

In his presentation, Andreas Meier, Division Manager at Eraneos, illustrated the implementation of a highly integrated data exchange using the case study of sedex data exchange between the cantons and around 60 health insurers to process premium reductions. In the lecture, five challenges were thematised, which experience has shown in the implementation of such data exchange projects:

• Early involvement of stakeholders in order to address the various needs.
• Definition of uniform reporting processes as a basis for integrated and automated data exchange
• Selection of a suitable transport channel for data exchange
• Definition of specifications for testing and introduction of the participants for a smooth start of operations
• Establishment of a company organisation that takes care of data exchange after the end of the project.
